RICHMOND- The coronavirus outbreak has forced people to stay home, but some are out doing their own thing and the consequences are costly.
Two NFL Players now have an arrest warrant after an incident in Florida, with charges that can be deemed as criminal and destructive to not only pockets, but to potential employment.
Florida law enforcement announced that former 1st round draft pick and NY Giants cornerback Deandre Baker is facing 4 charges of armed robbery and 4 charges of aggravated assault with a firearm.
Seattle Seahawks corner Quinton Dunbar is facing also facing 4 counts but for armed robbery.
Authorities say Baker and Dunbar were allegedly hanging at a cookout — when an argument broke out leading to Baker whipping out a semi-automatic firearm.
Both men allegedly robbed party guests with Dunbar assisting in taking watches and other valuables at the direction of Baker according to a report from TMZ.
Police also say that Baker reportedly told a third man, who wore a mask to shoot at someone who had just arrived at the party.
The Miramar Police Dept. says warrants for the two NFL players’ arrests have been issued although though neither player is currently in custody.
The Giants released a statement on the matter regarding Baker.
The Seahawks have also done the same with Dunbar
Both players were expected to make big contributions to their teams this season, although this report could lead them to having to turn in their playbooks instead of strapping on pads.
For Baker, because he gave an order of shooting, if it indeed followed through, Baker would be facing life in prison or the death penalty.
This incident ranks as nothing more than flagrant stupidity given the circumstances of the times we are living in.
When it is well noted that large gatherings are not allowed with the outbreak combined with the use of a weapon for assault purposes being forbidden, this party is now seen more of as a tragedy despite the reports of no one being hurt.
The coronavirus has affected us in many ways including quarantine and shutting down schools and jobs, but it did not create stupidity and insanity.
That’s a personal choice, and these two players came down with a heavy dose of it, and now they must pay for their actions. Either the NFL will take care of this mess……or the authorities will. Now we wait.
